Boone Plantation

This is Boone Plantation, at one time it was 4000 acres. They grew cotton, indigo, and later started making bricks. At one time they had the largest pecan tree farm and this allowed them to go through the depression. Today it is about 100 acres. This home was in North and South, Queen and The Notebook (the young girl's home) Unfortunately, the main plantation house was wood (boo) and was torn down in the 1930's and this home was built by a Canadian.
The tree lined lane is kind of famous, it is an image that is fairly well known. Anyone remember Patrick Swayze riding his horse up this to the house, in North and South?
All and all this was kind of disappointing as we were expecting a real plantation home of the 1800's, but there were slave quarters, gardens, house tour (with a docent) and a short farm tour. The only thrill I got was the Notebook and North and South connection.

POGO.com

I have been wondering for awhile if anyone from Jackie's blog plays on POGO? If so, let me know. I play there under delee323. I have played there for about five years. For all the hours I have spent there, I could have made a fortune with a home-based computer job!

I play pinochle with a league, but other then that I just play what I like or badge hunt!

Waiting to you from you, Pogo'ans.

Common Sense

This was a comment posted in my local paper. How true this article is and the sad thing is it will get worse before it gets better. I hope it does get better...

Subject: London Times Obituary of the late Mr. Common Sense

London Times Obituary of the late Mr. Common Sense 'Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair;and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Band-Aid to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust;his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers, I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Figuring it out!

So you thought this was about life, I wish I had that figured out, but this is about writting on my blog!

So in effect this a test to see how this all works. My computer knowledge is all trial and error, as reading help is useless to me. I get lucky sometimes and stumble into what works and hope this is one of those times.

I placed a picture in my blog and trust me that was dumb luck. Unfortunately, all my photos are on my other laptop and to this point I have not tranferred anything from the old HP, as it still works, but overheats. Everytime I go to Best Buy, I pick up a smart stick (?) and put it back. I have a 5 port hub that I can use to transfer items, but I delay. Someday soon.

About that life thing...why do things work out the way they do? Example... I use a hot pot to heat water for my instant coffee/tea/ etc, well yesterday it stopped working about 2 hours after I ordered a Keurig coffeemaker. Did the hot pot know I was replacing it? Or was it all a coincidence...I think NOT!
